No i didn't.

But a RRS is not the space shuttle so i think i can manage this so far. Rolling Eyes Wink

The only question i had was about the noise.

Since HDC uses the normal brakes, i wouldn't expect the metally noise, as it is with normal braking soundless.

So if it is normal noise, how come?

By the way, if the sales person had told me then that the scrapy noise was standard, i would rethink my transaction.

HDC works by variable application of the brakes on each wheel of the vehicle. It is trying to keep each wheel travelling at the same speed and not skidding - thereby helping the vehicle stay in control and in a straight line. The noises are each wheel disc being partialy released by the brake pads to allow them to rotate, then slowing the rotation down by greater aplication, then releasing them a bit and on and on. There is a lot of variable friction betweem the pads and discs on each corner so they each "sing" slightly different grinding tunes, added to by the hammering noise of the braking pistons pumping in and out pretty hard.

The noise should only happen when you have HDC on, and you would only really need HDC when descending a steep and slippery slope (which would really only be off road or on an icey road). There shouldn't be any similar noise in normal use (is there ?). If you are hearing unpleasant noises in normal use there is something wrong.

The noise of HDC is very unpleasant, but its a lot better than the screams of the driver and passengers in a vehicle that is descending a steep slope out of control and at risk of fliping. I speak as someone who once rolled a Defender down a hill (without roll cage or helmet) and let me tell you - I wouldn't want to do that again ! It is so easy to get out of shape in a very steep descent where all the weight is on the front wheels and the back wheels are skipping around. HDC was designed to avoid that and does a very good (if rather noisy) job of it. But its one of those systems that is nice to have but not needed in anything other than very extreme situations.

Normal ABS when working hard can be pretty noisy too but admittedly nowhere near as noisy as HDC and you would only hear the noise in a pretty serious situation where the car was at risk of a serious skid. But would you really not have bought the vehicle if you had known HDC was noisy ? You never need hear the "scapey" noise simply by never switching HDC on. RRS TDv8 HSE Rimini

For those occasional moments where you might need it, the noise would have turned you away from an RRS?

That's peculiar, but I guess you didn't buy it for its offroading prowess then...at any rate, you shouldn't need it in a parking garage if that's the steepest hill you'll find. PJPR

Thank you Smarticus, thats an helpfull reaction.

I've just got the car and wanted to try the HDC for the first time, so the parking garage looked like a good option. These buidings in Spain are something else.
The are still designed for the very small Seats and Fiats and very!!! narrow.
The slopes are sometimes very steep.

Come on over to Spain one day, that is situated in Europe, which is situated next to Russia Wink , to see things are different here.

If I'm not mistaken HDC speed can be set and then altered by using the cruise control buttons. Actually a quite useful on road feature.
