2005 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Zambezi Silver
The RRS SC is back on LPG!!

Hi all
Said i'd report back when the conversion was done, well my previous P38 took 2.5 days to convert, RRS 9 full days! But boy have they done a good job again.

You cannot tell with performance, trip between petrol n LPG is smooth & with no lag, now it goes like.. well you know & i've just filled up for .46p per ltr, doing 16 to gall on average so costing about 14p per mile.

You loose the spare wheel for the gas tank, holds about 80 ltrs, now carry those tyre foam cans for emergency repairs so just hope! Still if travelling major trip can always put spare in boot if needed. Same as previous P38 & Discovery V8 i've had.

Aware that if engine has any major issues warranty would be void but car is just 3 yrs old so out of warranty anyway. Local garage specialises in Land Rover & works with conversion guys so lets hope. Confused

Summary, its great & now registered as alternative fuel & TAX £195.00. Car runs a treat, with beautiful engine note & same performance & fun but with reduced running costs.

PS You guys have been very helpful with few querks on RRS, so thanks. Any further news on pushing shunt noise with Gaydon etc?

Cheers all & thanks.. Bow down Sporty & enjoying life..

That's great Triathlon Man. Here is Oz, LPG conversions are very popular, especially for Toyota LCs and locally made cars oh, and taxis!. My RRS is Diesel so I won't bother but the thought of an SC on Gas is quite appealing......maybe in the future. If you have any technical details or a brochure on PDF, I would be interested in seeing it. Good luck.

2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

Almost makes it worth looking for a 2nd hand S/C, but I think on my annual miles of 10,000-11,000 mpa I woul struggle to recoup the cost.
Now here's a calculation - I'm coming to the meet in London from Scotland which using Google Routes is 431 miles
one way. Lets say with my TDv8 I will get 30mpg and Diesel is £1.23ppl so the Tdv8 is going to cost £80 in fuel - £160 for the round trip

If I had an LPG powered S/C then I'm looking at say 18mpg(??) on gas at £0.46ppl so the cost would be £49.60
or £99 for the round trip.
So a saving of £60 in fuel costs on a single round trip - could almost have enough money left to be able to afford to have a lunch at a motorway stop on the trip too!

That's quite an incentive to pay for the conversion on a 3 year old RRS S/C which bought now would cost a lot less than a TDv8 even 2nd hand.................................. Just depends what the cost of the conversion is and also I only do 3 or 4 round trips a year. There aren't so many LPG outlets around this part of Scotland which is also something that has to be taken into consideration. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced
2015MY Corris Grey SDv6 HSE Dynamic, the best car I have ever owned, totally reliable only a cou0le of rattles in 3 years, now no longer in my care
Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW

I suspect that's the major reason why LPG isn't catching on like maybe it should be. Also, the nearest LPG pumps to me seem to be slowly disappearing.

P, given you're not too far down the road from me, where's your nearest LPG station?

Your anti-LPG slip is showing, Shmoogle, I thought moderators were supposed to be helpful Sad

Find out your nearest LPG outlet and check out approved installers. Modesty (and Martin) forbid my mentioning the country's leading RRS S/C dual-fuel specialists Cool
