Tire size question

There is a person who has offered to sell me a set of wheels and tires that he claims are off a Sport. He is sending me photos (have not yet received) this evening. I got fairly excited as they are described as being almost new.

Now for the rest of the story, they are Goodyear Wranglers All Season however they are 255 55 18. I explained that the RRS comes with 19's. If they are Land Rover wheels and tires what do you think they are off of. Additionally, is this worth pursuing, has anyone for any reason gone to 18's?

The SE & S come with 18's in the UK 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten
2009 Alaska TDV8 - Gone and much missed.

Davis, that size is ok for a RRS but not if you have a Supercharged.

There's a better choice of offroad tyres in 18", so yes, some of us have gone to 18".

Have replaced 19" with 18" to get more choice in off road tyres. The size tyre you quote is an exact match on the rolling radius, so can keep a 19" spare if only 4 wheels and does not throw speedo out.

Also have to check HSE models to see if Brembo brakes fitted, if so 18" Wheels will not fit, but beleive brake calipers can be modified to provide enough clearance

The S, XS and SE still come with 18s as standard, but beware if your car has the Brembos as the standard RRS 18s do not fit over them. You'll need to go the Compomotive route if you want 18s AND Brembos.
