Hi Mike,
good suggestion. I will give it a go at the weekend.
the car has a second battery too for stop-start, Do i need to disconnect that one too ?

No, not addressed it yet. its not affecting the way the car runs or drives.
I did ask one main dealer and they said the car would need to go in and be inspected. Minimum of an hours labour. I assum ... |

The problem has gone away, for now...
It registers as a hard fault if the seat is around 3/4 way back, but no fault if the seat is forward, less than half way back.
