I have tried both ways
It wont attempt to turn over either with jump leads or a power pack |

Sorry should have said I cleaned them with glass cleaner and then scrubbed with bicarbonate and white vinegar washed off with soapy water and then cleaned with WD40
It lasted a good couple of weeks ... |
