Had a look underneath my car and apart from the 2 cats and the DPF there are no silencers in my system.
It seems that the only way to do this is by removing the DPF,replacing it with the '07 silencer ... |

Removing the final muffler is not bad idea actually, worth trying anyway. 
I'll post a soundclip on the Tube when the job is done. |

I have a Larini/JE system on my '08 car.

My car also came with the DPF,even with the cat-back JE system the exhaust note is quite tame on mine too.
