I have a new RRS (2006 Sept made) and just got it in 2007 Feb 15, but it comes a engine ignition problem at last week (Only run 1000km). Do any one have the same experience when the RRS starts up in cool condition? The engine comes out a sound "da da da" and the dashboard shows engine flaut? After trying to ignit the engine many times, it could start. According to the dealer in China, they told me that this promblem is came form the computer software and it need upgrade. Unfortunately, it is keeped in the deal's garage for five days and still no answer when I could get it back.

Welcome to the forum! Do you own a 2006 Supercharged Sport? There is a TSB in North America for that engine and model year, describing more or less what you are experiencing, see bulletin text below. Perhaps that is what your dealer is talking about, but if it's only a software upload... Why would it take them so long to do it? Don't they have modems in China? You obviously do...

Thanks for your suggestion and I have informed my dealer. They told me that they have already upgraded the car computer and it did not work. Accordimng to their reply, Land Rover UK already alert this problem a long time ago and they did not find out where is the problem exactly came from. As I know, there is more than 5 cars (all are supercharged model) in the dealer's garage waiting for the solution. They are all having the same engine ignition problem. |

Just what I was thinking.... I take it LR service departments operate in the same way in China as they do in the rest of the world?

They flew him all the way to China just for you? What an incredible honor! You should be thankful, go away and just keep cranking up your Sport in the morning till it sputters away.

Firstly, the dealer claim the problem may be came from petrol. But I told them have used the best petrol in China (Octane 98#) then they said nothing. Unfortunately, there is only one offical dealer in Southern China and could not try another one. |

Then it may be worth putting your query to LR customer services in the UK.

I don’t know about fuel quality in China, but, just to remind you, the 90% of RRS in Mexico are SC and those “works” with 92 octanes. That is the best, or you can run 87”. So, Mexican fuel quality; I don’t know…???? Only PEMEX brand . Yuri

Octane wouldn't be my worry, contamination with water etc would be my main concern. Certainly in Saudi much of the petrol there could be contaminated at the filling station due to inadequate rainwater runoff capacity.... Cheers
