Also, forgive my multi-cultural ignorance but what is the reason for all the names mentioned in that article beginning with Datuk? Is that the Malay equivalent of Mr? Enquiring minds would like to know! Confused

What you read is only the tip of the iceberg. The article does not mention the unmentionables! Its said there's so much of hanky-panky involved that unravelling the whole system will be impossible. Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

Datuk is a Federal title and in this country most people with money/position/big business will scramble for such titles. Apparently such titles open many doors - doors that we mere mortals simply cannot reach, let alone open. There are Federal Titles, State Titles, all kinds of titles!! It was once jokingly (?)said that at the rate these titles are handed out, very soon it will be a rare sight indeed to meet an untitled citizen here! Wink Wink
