Visually, SE's are missing the magic the MSport pack gives....(IMHO!) Runner up - 2009 Best Avatar Award Sad

They are indeed. This is why you can bag a bargain in a second hand 5-series SE - nobody really wants them.

BMW USA made the call not to sell the M Sport packages here in the USA. You can buy the M-Aero Kit and get the bodywork only, but the M-Sport interior, shifter, wheels, etc. you would have to get yourself.

I guess they felt that the M-Sports if available here in the 'States would somehow detract from the image of the M3/M5 somehow.

To me it was a bone-headed decision. I would have gotten a 5 series years ago if the M-Sport package was available here.

I have to say though (From personal experience) MSport suspension is b Censored y firm/crashy!

Interestingly, I noticed when switching to Michelin Pilot Sport II tyres the grip went up massively, but ride got firmer still! Runner up - 2009 Best Avatar Award Sad

The suspension can be a bit stiff, but some of that comes from the Censored runflats that they stick on the MSport 18s! Mad

On 5's they fit run-flats but on my 2003 3Sport they weren't. Bloody firm all the same! Runner up - 2009 Best Avatar Award Sad

Ah yes... forgot you had a 3! The ironic thing is that on the 19in MSport alloys, they put normal tyres and the ride returns to normal (ok, still very firm, but not boneshaking).

E39 M5 best car got to 160 in it once whilst in Germay. Car I had the most fun was with was a Stage1 Station Wagon. If I knew how to add pictures I'd put some on. Got a free ride back from North Wales to Essex on the back of a recovery wagon.
