I liked the Carlton actually... I used to own a GSi 3000 - one of the 24v jobs. That was quick too, until I burnt the clutch out Laughing

The only reason they were 5 secs + to 60 was trying to get all that torque down!

A problem you are probably familiar with, Mr Mann?? Whistle

I am sure I read a roadtest in Autocar back in early 90's where it hit 125mph in 14 seconds or less which is amazing! Runner up - 2009 Best Avatar Award Sad

Mine has to be my Sunbeam Lotus - it was totally unique beacause...

It was the only one with a Full Metal/steel electric tilt sliding sunroof. This was because I had a Tudor Webasto one fitted [ the same as factory fitted by BMW's at the time ] the roof panel cut out is used as the sunroof panel to provide exact fit. The car was then stripped down to bare metal and resprayed - I bought it new - it was the Mk 2 in Moonstone Blue with black stripe. It was then resprayed Embassy Black with the silver stripe. It was better than came out of the factory !!!

The interior was completely re-trimmed in Black leather/Alcantara - and the headlining too was alacantara !

Bespoke audio system
Works suspension & exhaust system
4 x Huge Cebe SPOT lights professionally mounted on the front.

Awsome

I will scan some old photos in ASAP to let you all see the beast ! Shocked

I loved that car

BUT - then I wrote it off [ more pics to show you ] Embarassed

Ok here are some pics at long last !

You can just see the sunroof tilted - also I fitted all the sunbeam Ti spoilers to it. Note the LOTUS grille badge

At my parents house with " Zee German Girls" - my sister was a Bi lingual secretary at the Bundesbank !
also this shows it in its original Moonstone Blue colours before total re-spray

Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry

ok

Big Cry

if I have to Big Cry

Going tooooo fast down the A5 on slippery/icy conditions [ remember the early 80's when it froze over with several feet of snow as well ] - it was then in January ! Big Cry

I was overtaking a very old ford escort ......... approx 50mph .... but accelerating towards 200mph .. when .................... Shocked Shocked Censored my rear end is now leading the way ... Shocked ... scary at these speeds...

so.................. stop the action there , what happened next ?

Having corrected the directional problem - my rear end now shot round tooooo quickly and thus , clipped the front wing of the poor sod in the escort......

what happened next....

I just remember climbing out of the ditch on all fours Embarassed Big Cry
