Ireland 2007 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Java Black
Got my new TDV8 - wow

Well it arrived today, Java black/ebony. Having been driving the TDv6 for the last 3 weeks my impressions are

* TDV8 light years ahead of the v6, Theres an incredible push in the back and no noticable turbo lag.
* Fuel ecomony is not as good, but that could be becuase the engine has about 30 miles on it at the moment
* The suspension feels stiffer then teh tdv6 which is not a good thing as the tdv6 was stiff enough
* The bluetooth PTI is not without its issues.

But its a blast RRS HSE TDV8 Java black/Ebony interior, mud flaps,20" stormers, towing, roofrack, sunroof, cooler V8 Tasmods Sills, black badges, carstyling java black vents

Given the advancements in the engine technology over the existing TDV6, even though the cubic capacity is bigger I'd expect to see low-mid 20s after a few thousand miles, no?

I averaged around 25-27mpg with mine, so yeah... mid 20s would be good to see.

I'm hoping for 25mph as an average. At least Diesel in Ireland is a good bit cheaper then you guys in the UK

Currently working through the voice recognition, its very wierd, makes you practice a wide variety of accents!!

Discovered that the Bluetooth PTI, works well once the RRS system does the discovery, not the other way around , For the first couple of goes , I enabled the bluetooth on my phone , while the car was running. ( You know lots of hours sitting in the new toy with the engine running!). Do that the phone saw the car, but the car didnt see the phone. However when I now get into the car with the phone already setup and powered up and turn the key in the ignition the PTI system always sees the phone.

Theres no doubt that the HSE with Dynamic response and the 20" stormer, rides very firmly and like RRUk says theres little sidewall to protec anything. I can see the stormers getting damaged V quickly.

Still the tdv8 is just something else ( what will it be like when I get it chipped after about 5K miles!!).

Lanier Engineering tell me they expect a TDv8 exhaust system real soon now. RRS HSE TDV8 Java black/Ebony interior, mud flaps,20" stormers, towing, roofrack, sunroof, cooler V8 Tasmods Sills, black badges, carstyling java black vents

I should check JE for the exhaust as they patented some mods to the Larini exhaust. So Larini may not be able to supply the JE spec exhaust. I'm certain JE's version will be better.

As for mpg. There's no way the mpg on the TDV8 is going to be better than the TDV6. And I doubt its going to be more than a second quicker than a tuned TDV6.
So I'm not convinced the price difference is worth it for real world motoring. But of course if its monopoly money or your lottery winnings, then why not treat yourself. TDV6 - gone
TDV8 - gone
