Go and buy a Disco 3. Technically amost identical and the S spec comes with a manual gearbox. |

Barbosa, I used to work round Porto and Leixoes a lot in the 1980's and 1990's and I assume the roads have not improved vastly in the last 20 years! I appreciate where you are coming from, however the 6 speed auto is very good and gear changes occur seamlessly and very promptly when you ask. The gearbox is also "adaptive" and learns from your driving style and adjusts the shift pattern to suit. I would highly recommend that you borrow a demo car from the dealer for a weekend and go and play round the North of Portugal on those twisty bumpy country roads - you will be very surprised how good the suspension and gearbox really are. I must admit that the only time I use the sequential/ commandshift function these days is when I am driving offroad. The gearbox is good enough that I very rarely find that I even use the "sport" mode by shifting the lever to the left and leaving it there as well. The power and torque of the TDv6 and the autobox are very well matched.
