Baby seats for new born

Hi guys, have a client about to purchase a TDV6 HSe through me, and he was asking whether i had any advice about baby seats for the RRS.

Now, he's been offered the LR one ISOFIX thing from dealer base and chair for 190+VAT discounted, but i don't know how best to advise, thought some of you guys may have experience with this and could help better?

What do u guys use, the client is expecting a baby in the next few months and right now, we have the option to have this added to the invoice but need to make up our minds about this..

Thanks in advance.

New born isofix seats are too bulky. Your friend (wink wink) should buy a good push chair that comes with a baby seat, the type that the seat fits onto the pram frame, saves you waking baby up after a car journey. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

But isn't ISOFIX the safest way? It attaches to the floorpan of the car, doesn't it? Runner up - 2009 Best Avatar Award Sad

Yes but for new born I would go for a removable seat, these are still very safe. When the baby is old enough to sit upright go for an Isofix seat. This is what I've learnt over the last 2 years or so. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

Agree with VA 100%

ISOFIX is great - esp for elder kids, but as we are looking at a new born baby here, you will be carrying around from place to place in his/hers bespoke carrier - I would go for system that allows the carrier to be picked up & seperated from the main pushchair/pram ....... and can the be lifted direct into car without disturbing baby.

VW/Britax invented - developed the isofix system - it is excellent.

When MDP jnr was a bit bigger we used the bobst G1 isofix seat from Audi/VW

As you can see from these photos - the seat is permanently anchored to the car - the seat has its own lap belt = very very secure for your child BUT NOT FOR BABIES

Sort the main pushchair/system out 1st Thumbs Up

What's more important is how the seat supports the baby really. Although ISOFIX car seats do effectively attach to the bulkhead, the other "seatbelt" variety are perfectly fine. For Shmoogle Jr's first stage car seat, we used a Bebe Confort one which was part of a travel system as VA said and that fitted perfectly well.

When our little Isabella was born we were very happy with the Primo Viaggio system by Peg Perego. It comes with an adjustable base that you leve permanently attached to the rear seat of the Sport (either left or right - the LATCH system in the Sport is not designed for a center seat position) and a baby carrier that you engage with the base and disengage when you want to take the baby out of the car without waking her up. Both my wife and I had a base installed in our cars. The compact stroller made by the same company (I think it's called Pliko) is also designed to receive the baby carrier and easily folds and fits in the boot, so you can take the baby from car to mall and back to the car without ever waking her. God Bless them! The base and carrier combo is compact enough to fit without any problems on the back seat of the Sport. Only disadvantage is that big babies will outgrow the "navetta" quickly, as it is quite small. After the baby weighs more than 12 lbs or so, the Primo Viaggio will be a tight fit. But you can still use the stroller, without carrier, until your toddler walks.

We have since "upgraded" our sweetie to a convertible Britax seat (the Roundabout), which can be mounted either rear (when they are under 20 lbs) or forward (from 20 to about 40 lbs) facing. We researched this a lot, and Britax seats consistently rate among the safest in the industry in crash tests. They are very easy to install with the LATCH anchors. They don't look too horrible, either. Very Happy Make sure you buy a seat protector to place between leather and baby seat, IT will catch all those Cheerios spills and prevent nasty, permanent marks on your leather caused by those tight fitting seat frames.

Chaps, having not acquired a RRS yet, i don't know if isofix is standard.

Is it?

Definitely go for a travel system, I think the "LR" seats are Br1tax in reality..... Cheers
