I figured it out - the extra weight of the sticker on the tailgate is causing the problem. Very Happy 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

Martin -- I've been noticing the same squeek/rattle in the past week also. I'm hoping it's due to a small gap that's developed somewhere due to the cold weather (and not a bigger problem!). When I go over speed bumps, it sounds as if the the rear tailgate's not quite closed all the way, but nothing on the display. The sound was so distinct I got out and gave it a good slam. Over the next bump...same thing. I'll be interested to hear what your dealer has to say... -QM

On mine there is two rubber stops on each part of the tailgate, so you can do the same for the lower part as you did for the glass part... L319 D4 HSE

SORRY RRUK - I had'nt noticed this, I did the top glass ones OK , but then looked at the main tailgate rubbers , gave them a twist & thought they didnt screw out like the others, but now, after a second look I have discovered as you quite rightly point out, they do screw out enabling adjustment. So I will play around with these to see if I can cure the rattle

THANKS

of course like mine, if you have had the rear number plate light replaced, you will still have the broken part of the old light fitting rattling about inside the top tailgate cos the monkey who fixed it was not thorough enough to fish out the debris.... Mad L319 D4 HSE

damn.. i have had this replaced on mine too!
haven't heard any rattling, i usually have some pens and other crap in the front cup cubby hole so they are usually rattling round, and divert my attention away from anywhere else on the car..
might have a little listen.. although i've normally got my stereo on quite loud, so don't hear much on the rattling side of things anyway...

plus i had a cab before the RRS, and it used to drive me crazy with all the poles rattling about, so this is nothing!

Update on Tailgate noise/rattle

It would appear that these rubber srew/stops do adjust. Having played around with them I think I have cured the annoying rattle. Very Happy Very Happy

I will monitor for now............
