I keep getting "transmission fault, traction reduced" displayed intermittently at start-up (every 3rd/4th day). It extinguishes, but apparently doesn't record on the diagnostics? The dealer tried uploading new transmission software but that wasn't successful and the "ghost" fault still continues.

Hmm, this has come and gone a few times, this error. Normally one of those that occurs and then doesn't rear it's ugly bits for several months. You could always take the MDP route and replace the battery too...

A bit drastic, but it would certainly cure the problem!

It could be low battery voltage? The only time I saw that message was after bringing my car at a tyre shop to switch wheels. The mechanic left the key in the ignition and the headlights were on the entire time while the car was on the lift. When he was done and I restarted the engine, that message (and related "bong") popped up for a couple of seconds, then went away. I never saw it again. Get your battery checked. Either that, or something in your car may be malfunctioning and/or draining the battery overnight. |

Thanks LRS. The car's come back from the garage today without anything having been done..., apart from head-scratching! Therefore, I'll pass on your suggestion tomorrow! |
