Hi Envoy. I had exactly the same problem as you. Firstly, major transmission fault necessitated FULL ECU software update, including engine, which wiped my Twisted Performance remap. Then, a later different "ghost" fault required an unsuccessful partial gearbox-only ECU software update. On both occasions the remap was wiped with identical consequence to yours (loss of acceleration and like-for-like consumption reduced from 23-25mpg down to 20-21mpg). It's afraid it's back to see the man with the laptop for you my friend!!! |

I know that JE and Turbochip don't charge again for remapping if the tune is wiped by the LR dealer. Like this site? Buy some RRSPORT goodies to show your support! |

Hi Envoy. Like Martin, I didn't get charged for the first remap and the nice man at Twisted Performance, Charlie, is happy to do the second one free of charge too. My car is back in the Stealer's tomorrow to have a second go at the recurring transmission fault (warning; reduced traction?) so he's awaiting the outcome of that work as it will inevitably include another gearbox ecu software upload.., which would, of course, wipe any previous remap! The Stealer also told me it's going to happen at service intervals too as they're obliged to install ALL latest software updates. Seems to be an inevitable way of life, but at least the remap bods are a tolerant and understanding bunch of lads.., hopefully? |

Envoy - did they chip yours via the OBD socket or via the ECU? |

Myself and TC use the Autologic system to remap the cars via the OBD socket. After programming a receipt code is generated which allows us (or our dealers) to reflash the car for free by just entering the receipt code again |

I took the car back to the tuning company today, they took the ecu out and disappeared with it, an hour and a half later it came back and was refitted, they said that the ecu had been reprogrammed with a later program than original they had to write a complete new program to remap the ecu. It cost me £173. Not to happy but what can i do. The one thing i can say is that it now goes even better than it did with the first remap and that was good, and the fuel consumption is superb

Sorry mate, but that's a rip-off. Wasn't your fault, it's a weakness of THEIR remap procedure? Like TC, mine is reprogrammed through the OBD socket and doesn't require real work to fix. I'm glad you can tell the difference, but watch out for those all-too-regular service upgrades! |

I agree it seems like a rip off, but its not there fault it got wiped off though, my only concern is as you say what happens if it has another up date, does that mean it will get wiped off again and another £173 to put it back i hope not, i am definatley happy with the performance again and the difference in fuel consumption.

Happy days then! Mine's having the front seat leather replaced, along with repetitive "traction reduced" transmission fault, plus noisy tailgate. I'll then have it re-remapped and look forward to joining you with 25mpg! |
