Just to add a to the debate on genuine wheels or aftermarket, i purchased a set of 20" replica stormers from DGT alloys off ebay.co.uk for 1000 pounds with tyres. I got wheels spun up at my LR dealership and they balanced perfectly. Since then i have driven with little regard for the wheels and have done some mild tracks, a little rocky and dirt, plus driven over numerous curbs etc. I have just cleaned my car and checked the wheels and they show no sign of damage nor are they out of balance, the car still drives perfectly. If anyone was thinking about purchasing 20's i would say get replicas and get them fitted with 295/40/20's. You could replace them twice and still have change left over from a set of original stormers |

295's because they give you an extra 10mm both sides of your wheel as well as giving you a bit more sidewall protection. Will post some pics once the weather turns foul and i'm forced indoors! |

Scraped a curb yesterday arvo after a couple hours kiteboarding, wasn't paying much attention to what was behind me and going a bit quick. Thought "Oh S*%t! i've just wrecked a wheel". Anyway jumped out had a look and to my delight, no damage. Had a big scrape mark on the tyre though. I think that extra bit of tyre plus plenty of air (38 Psi) saved me from handing over anymore cash for wheels. |

Would ther be any reason why LR opted for the 275 contis as opposed to any make of 295's ???

The only reason i could think of would be that car manufacturers generally provide tyres which are the same width as the wheel they make. It gives a more squared off look whereas the 295 sits a little rounder, i actually like the look. Besides that the 275 is the same rolling diameter as the 255/19 and 265/18 which they put on the RRS and D3 and so they can use a generic speedo calibration for all vehicles???? |

So how different is the rolling radius on the 295's & how dramatic is the change in speedo reading etc etc ?? |

I've got 295s on my 20"s and it looks really good, much chunkier. It's also correct that that tyre wall is slightly deeper, although I still managed to scuff-up my alloys whilst getting wedged in a 6' 6" width restriction (never again). According to my Road Angel, the increased rolling circumference has corrected the +/- tolerance and the speedo is now virtually spot-on! An all-round winner then? |
