I suppose for it to be a fair comparison, you'd have to work it out on a %age basis. I think Kam was saying he had his hands on a S65 recently that lost about half it's value in the first year..... Ouch!

I think you're right mate... but the sort of people who were buying into one probably re-earnt the loss in a couple of days on the trading floor anyway

yeah percentages look scary.. and i think it better to look at them in this way really..

Was told by a trader in northampton recently, that they took 3 bent gt's in when they were hot, sold two for near list/asking made a good return, and then the other one hung around for a while.. then suddenly the market corrected itself, and suddenly they lost £15k over night..
Won't touch flying spurs with a barge pole.. because of this.

But residuals can sometimes go up..
recently i got the TDV8 figs for the RRS in Nov, (when they first came out) quoted a few people, and much to everyone's delight, got a refresh on the figs a few days ago and the residuals have gone up.. which goes against the 4x4's are deal theory really.. demand is still high, and the supply has been less on the TDV8's then whats required right now, so the market price went up for future expectations.. good for finance packages anyway!!

Although only slight, usually they go down over time by this difference, so has got to be good. The RS4 avant also did this, and its always good when quotes come in under anticipated for both me and the client..

AMG cars are all heavy depreciators, but so is anything else with a petrol massive engine in it.. if you can afford to run one then you can afford the repayments on the finance.. plus you get better residuals on new cars, so there are always swings and roundabouts.. plus, also companies who buy S600 L's for like 110k with every extra under the sun, they are usually writing off a chunk of cash on an annual basis, so don't care if they only get back £60k the following year as a scrap book value/disposal value..
My dad's cars, the 7 Series was owned by a kitchen company, every extra put on it, retailed out at £68k, we got it a year and a bit old with 5 year service pack for half that.. plus the A8, again company on the logbook, bought that for £34k ish, and that lists at £58k with the goodies..

I always try and look for ex corporate cars, my old Bmw cab, the first owner bought a 325ci for his wife in company name, added EVERY option, including yellow individual leather (looked good against black) with hard top.. 18" wheels etc.. cost him £42k for a damn 325!! thats M3 money on E46 cars, therefore one year old cost me £26850 in middle of winter with 17k on the clock.. bargain! i sold on for my RRS for around £23k if i remember right, and the dealer put it on the forecourt for £26850 (what i had paid for it the year before..) and guess what, it went in an instant cuz of the spec sheet.. its crazy really.. but one minute your ok, then next bang.. market drop...

Got three porsche boxsters right now, market is dropping for these, and dealers are giving bad bids for them right now..

Personally feel the RRS is ok right now, and will be going forward for some time, and the longer you keep it anyway, the more the finance levels out and you break even really on the loss vs equity front.. but its the same, if you arrive to the game too late, and then try a quick turnover on the car, dealers after a while will have to differentiate the new cars from the used by quite a margin, so will hit us for the loss.. is a weird thing this UK car market.

had a client with a new TT, and the dealer has offered him full list money for it against a new S3, simply because the S3 they can't shift, as the reviews came in quite bad on them, they have been selling ok i think, but not hotcakes like the TT/RS4/R8 are likely to be etc.
But you can say one thing, and the market can change the next.. the figures we use, are calculated using CAP/GLASS' combined, or what im told. ..
