Active Rear locking diff. Is it worth getting?

Hi All,

Im Spec-ing my new TDV8 and was wondering if you guys thought that the Active Rear locking Diff is a "must have" option.
Bearing in mind I probably wont be going off road in it, (especially with the 20" alloys), but will it be "useful" driving it on road, especially if the road becomes a bit slippery, or if I drive it "in a more sports like way" or will it not make much difference.

Thanks.

Unless you are using it off road it's an expence that isn't worth having! 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

Unless you are doing serious off roading I wouldn't bother.

and if you are thinking of going offroading in it, then a set of All terrain or Mud Terrain tyres is probably more useful............... you can use AT's as a good substitute for winter tyres if need be. Mind with all these warmer and wetter winters we are getting maybe a set of Jungle Trekkers or SIMEX tyres might be more useful still Smile 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Thanks guys. Just thought with the supercharged having it as std, the tdv8 might benefit from it, with its extra power, but kind of knew it would mainly be an "off road" extra.
All ordered now, minus Active rear locking diff.
Cheers!

i spoke with the person who sets up the wheels events at a local dealer and he said you won't really notice the benefits from it unless you do some hard core rock crawling.
