My sister has asked for a portable Satnav, but I am not sure which model is best.....? any help/suggestions on which one to buy would be appreciated.

I have a TomTom go in my mini. You can now get one with bluetooth connection so it becomes a handsfree kit for the phone. You can download things like speed camera warnings etc. A bit pricey but if you love your sister it's a small price. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

A colleague of mine swears by his TomTom too... he has it on his iPaq, which meant he only needed to buy the GPS receiver and the software, which kept the cost down. I was in Halfords the other day and they were doing a special on some all-in-one TomTom product - not sure which as I only noticed it while queuing to pay. £199 it was... I'd have to love my sister loads to spend that much on her for Xmas, but there you go! Laughing

TomTom Go seems to be the fave and has endless updates and add ons available over the web so good for life service length etc.

I bought my wife one, there are 3 models the 300, 500 and 700. The 300 and 500 both use a memory flash card whereas the 700 has a built in 2GB disk drive.

The 500 and 700 both have bluetooth for phone connectivity too. The 700 comes with a remote control also. I paid £450 for that one back in September. Just looked at the website below and they are doing them on special offer for £359!! Bargain.

Cheapest place I found them was www.ebuyer.com

I think it is Garmin that have bought out an even smaller, pocket size GPS with all the voice directions and so on that has no external aerial and you can attach to your belt or she can put in her handbag so she can walk around and get voice directions to all her fave designer stores Laughing 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

sat nav

re sat nav, I have bought a MIO 269 plus, from Global Positioning Systems, a really great piece of kit, does not need a aerial,(unless you require tmc), no sd cards to put in, good for UK and Europe with street level maps. Have bought my my son in law one just for UK (with sd card ) a 268 plus. Cost around £259 . Just make sure that you get the PLUS model. saves sticking the horrible sucker on the windscreen.
