Mine was an auto, the only manuals that I drove were dealer loaners. My ex used to love driving it but when we had a manual loaner she found that the clutch was incredibly heavy on them and also as she was only 5ft 00" tall she had problems reaching the gear lever! She considered trading her 1.8 Freelander1 for an auto version at one stage.

Why not touch with a bargepole? Did the filter leak have consequences? Finding a perfect TD5 might take a while as most wil have some sort of issue Cheers Simon 2007 2.7HSE 20" Wheels 2005 TDV6 D3 S Auto - Zambezi Silver - JE Tune - RRS 19" - Sidesteps - Roof Rails Body Side Strips - Xenons - Bright Pack - Cold Pack - Premium Stereo Alpine Roof - Towpack - Alpine Touchscreen Satnav - Veba Rear DVD changer Alpine Roof Monitor - Webasto FBH Timer - Brembo Frt & S/C Rr Brakes |

Oh yes, and in my case big style! Twice my one blew the filter cup thing in the rear wheel arch off and deposited most of a tank full of diesel on the road behind me, which was not nice for the folks following, or my insurance company. A friend of mine who had one of the facelifted D2s, was driving down the motorway and noticed fluid flowing UP the rear side screen - stopped on the hard shoulder and found that while he hadn't lost the filter cup it was only held on by about 1 thread, fortunately he picked it up before he lost a lot of diesel. This happened to him at least 3 times and continued to happen despite a new set of fuel lines and a new filter being fitted. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it 2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced 2015MY Corris Grey SDv6 HSE Dynamic, the best car I have ever owned, totally reliable only a cou0le of rattles in 3 years, now no longer in my care Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW |

I hope she doesn't park in car parks as the D2 was a nightmare to maneouver a larger turning circle than Tim's company transport |
