Thinking of RRS in Sweden...

Hello people! Nice forum!

I've been thinking about buying a RRS TDv6 SE. Just compared the Swedish RRS versions of TDv6 SE with the UK ones.

In Sweden, first of all, we don’t have the S version. It's probably because it does not have the Cold Climate Pack and if you live in Sweden, well... you need it.

What is notable is that the Swedish SE-models does not have the following :
• Hi ICE Pack (Harman Kardon system upgrade)
• the ultra sonic alarm is an upgrade that costs about € 420
• Powerfold exterior mirrors

On the other hand, the Swedish SE are fitted with
• 19” 5 V Spoke
• Rear seat heating
• Straight Grained Walnut (optional) free of charge (could not see if that is std in UK as well)

I’d rather have the Hi ICE Pack than the 19” because I’m replacing those anyway with the 20 inch, 10 spoke alloy wheels. Also, living in downtown Stockholm, Powerfold exterior mirrors as standard would have been nice.

So what I’m thinking is this setup:

RRS 2,7 TDv6 SE

Buckingham blue with Alpaca standard Leather and Walnut interior

Extra gear:
20 inch, 10 spoke alloy wheels
Hi ICE Pack
Tow Pack
Powerfold exterior mirrors
Body Side mouldings
Mud flaps (just because I think they look cool, but a bit unsure if they go well with the B-Blue. Anyone got pictures, please post ‘em).
Chrome Side Vents

Anyone got suggestions or recommendations for “must have” apart from the above. I’m on a bit of a budget so if something is added, something most go. Smile

Regretfully I probably won’t get it before winter ends, would have been great to put it to the test on these narrow snow covered roads we got all over this icy nation.

Welcome to the forum Dubcat. I have an 05MY SE and it has heated rear seats as standard, wood is cherrywood and mine is Givery with aspen hide and ivory interior. HI-Ice was standard or there was an upgrade to Premium HK. Standard system that I have is OK! There must be market specific reasons for not having powerfold or the alarm though - USA spec cars don't have the alarm either (maybe no car thieves in Sweden?) Standard SE wheels here are 18".

The only MUST have that you need and isn't on your list is a set of Tasmod's sill plates which are far far better than the LR ones nd will stop scratches on the sills when people get in and out (polished stainless steel kick plates) and are available worldwide on eBay now and again. Tasmod is an owner of an RRS as well as a member here.
The chromed intakes are doubtful...... colour coded are nicer! I have the Carstyling set also from eBay:

2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced
2015MY Corris Grey SDv6 HSE Dynamic, the best car I have ever owned, totally reliable only a cou0le of rattles in 3 years, now no longer in my care

A pair of nice JE Engineering exhausts poking out the back [ aka the supercharged look ] they also help a TD6 sound better Confused

Also the half cap chromed mirror covers will look nice fitted to a Buck Blue Cool

Tim, I think there is a basic alarm, but there is also something called a "Ultrasonic alarm upgrade". I have to check with the dealer what's up with that.

What I find most odd is the regional wood option instead of Rhodium; walnut is an option instead of cherrywood that you have in the UK and also the US. I checked on the Norwegian, Danish and German LR-sites as well, and it's the same, no mention of cherrywood. Most be some Anglo vs. Germanic thingy going on there. Wink I prefer walnut, looks nicer IMO.

There are quite a few RRS in Stockholm, but I’d say most of them are Stornaway Gray for some reason. Pretty dull if you ask me, I’m leaning towards the Lugano Teal colour after reading some really nice posts in this forum. Regretfully there is neither Buck Blue or Lugano Teal cars at the LR-dealers in Stockholm, so I can’t see either of them in the flesh before I order it. Lugano Teal seems pretty sober but still very rare. I guess that appeals to me.

Tasmod's sill plates sounds sensible, I’ll look into that.

I don’t know about the exhaust MDP, sounds like a drug dealer kit to me. Smile Just kidding.

Wood specs changed with 07MY I think so you can have Rhodium as standard or straight grained Walnut as no cost option on the S,SE and HSE. HST gets hand polished lined oak as standard with Rhodiun or walnut as an nco.
Lugano Teal is a nice colour but doesn't seem to be very popular, but maybe I'm seen them and thinking they are Buckingham or Java. Have seen one at the local dealer and it had Ivory interior 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Dubcat - good luck with you're choice. I have had my TDV6 for two monts now and couldn't be more happy.

As you're going to upgrade wheels with 10 spoke 20" you should consider to opt for the Dynamic Pack. Then you'll also get a more sportier handling without sacrificing comfort and as well get the Brembo brakes. 2010 RRS TDV6 3,0, Bali Blue/Tan/Anigre/Dynamic Pack/Logic7/Keyless entry/Paddle

Welcome Dubcat - on this forum you'll find we can't say enough nice things about JE exhausts. I have them on my TDV6 - they give the car a Supercharged look and give off a nice sound. Very Happy

I'm in Stockholm quite often, but admit I have not seen a lot of RRSs there. Mostly XC90's... The S/C look is for those who can actually afford the real deal! Wink

Yeah, loads of XC90s around Stockholm of course... they're just too damn common here (average Swedish street looks like a used Volvo dealer lot) although I must admit I actually like the XC90. I frequently spot 2 RRS (both Stornaway Gray) on my street in Södermalm. In Östermalm, they are everywhere; you must hang out in the wrong hood! Wink

I’ve never seen a RRS in Stockholm that is not black, silver or grey! Must change that real quick! I’ll probably gonna change my mind ten times before I make the final decision though! The missus is trying to talk me out of Lugano Teal! Damn her!!! Smile

Order placed on a RRS Tdv6 SE! Damn, went for the Java after all! Rimini and Lugano felt too unsafe with the depreciation and all, and Buck Blue and Tonga did not seem fitting for a young lad like myself (well, I feel young anyways he he).

Final order, with some luck delivery in April:
RRS TDv6 SE
Java Black – Ebony Std – Straight Grained Walnut – 20” inch 10 Spoke – Privacy Glass – Hi ICE Pack – LR Sill Tread Plates - Carpet Mats

Laughing Laughing yeah, probably...that seedy part of town around Vasagatan Shocked

You're right about the whole Volvo used car dealership thing. Must be worse in Göteborg!

It's a shame BSR don't have a tuning program for the RRS through their PPC Tuning System - that uses the OBDII port. I like that concept....maybe you can talk to them...you know, Swede to Swede in that whole "scandinaviska" thing you do.... I dunno, I think I will have a hard time finding an insurance company that will be willing to allow me to tune my RRS without doubling my insurance fee. Sweden is above all (despite Sven Göran Eriksson’s valiant attempts to destroy the myth) Land of Mediocre and Regular. Superchips has a Swedish reseller called Motor Nord, might give ‘em a call to see what they can do for me. Anyone has any experience with them regarding the TDv6?

Dubcat, I work in Gothernburg, and quite a few of the guys I work with have had there cars chipped, I'm back on Monday and will find out who chips and where they insure from? having said that if Chris LRTuning (highly recommended) fancies coming over I can put him up, flights are very reasonable?

Gary, sounds great! Check with 'em, please! I use Volvia now, they're pretty decent. What kinda work do you do in Göteborg? I go down there from time to time, have a client there. Very nice city, very pretty girls (not as good as Stockholm, but still). Smile
