Landrover less after Friday.

My D3 is sold and will be going on Friday Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad

It is a great car but fed up with niggles and crappy LR attitude (plus fancy a change Wink )

£30k plus was a lot for me to spend on a car but I have certainly proved the point that spending loads of dosh does not get you the excellent service that it should.

Going back to a 'normal' car and hopefully will get an offroad toy soon as well.

Will keep an eye on you lot still (especially the BOOBIE threads) and hopefully still join up with you from time to time (give me a shout when things are being arranged)

Cheers guys

Cliff

Going to have a bit of a 'play' for a while, going to look at a C class 270 Elegance estate, few years old, totally specced up, low mileage and in great condition.

As for the off road toy,who knows..................... Wink

I always bought Mercs but the last few I had were GRIM.

History

Merc ML270 - great
Merc ML270 - great
Merc E430 - Rust problem - warranty paid for: Boot lid, front wings, Drivers door and rear quarter!
Merc S320 CDI - Great
CL500 - A total waste of money - problems with bodywork blistering
Merc ML270 - Perfect car
E320 CDI - New shape - very bad build quality
E320 CDI - Even worse - the last merc I had and will ever own!

Tops and bottoms MERCS are worse than LR's - buy a VW mate!

Good luck with whatever you buy mate

I know the background of this car and it has no hidden issues.
Take on board what you are saying, TBH I think unless it is Japanese all makes have their issues, was speaking to a Volkswagen tech the other week, he was saying that their quality was crap at the moment too.

Jap cars have no soul though Wink

Not as bad as I thought to be honest, would not have sold it for a crap price, was quite surprised.

2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

Cliff sorry to read that you are giving up LR's.
Envoy, one careful owner never offroaded............................... not! It amazes me how much I see Tdi300s being advertised for - mine cost me £10k 4 years ago with 53k miles and I see older ones with higher miles and in poor nick being advertised at 8-9k when all anybody tells me my pristine 60k miles one is worth is about £5-6k! Mine is a Tdi300 CSW which was origianlly a CH/Top it has been offroaded but is not damaged. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced
2015MY Corris Grey SDv6 HSE Dynamic, the best car I have ever owned, totally reliable only a cou0le of rattles in 3 years, now no longer in my care
Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW

Cheers Tim
Not totally off LR, very dissapointed with the dealers and LR's attitude as they have a great car if they could sort themselves out.
In my two D3's we covered over 16K in 15 months, it is a great car to drive .

At the end of the day will only be doing the same as you Tim, nice car to drive around in and then something else to 'play' with (that WILL be a LR)

Cheers VA, no pain really as I say I got a very fair price for the D3. Have enjoyed driving the D3 very much.
In some ways I can live with faults, I have only had one car that I have not taken back to the dealer and that was a Toyota (but that was boring as hell)
Some of the dealer visits are down to me being a fussy sod I have rejected 3 cars in the last 8 years and eventually won everytime so I am probably on manufacturers black lists Laughing Laughing Laughing

Give me a shout when you get your G4 VA, fancy a go in that Wink

BTW just been reading a bit more about the 270 diesel engine in the Merc C class. Sounds like it would leave a chipped TDV6 in its dust but with much better economy Wink

Cliff - what you need to keep an eye on - is the forthcoming V12 Diesel Audi Q7

Power & build quality in abundance Very Happy

But - you'll probably have to "prostitute" yourself to pay for it Wink
