Radio Removal

Hi

Well I have spent all night trying to work out how to remove the radio unit so i can plumb my ipod into the aux wires on the back of the head unit as i had done before on my disco 3, however I got the trim covers off, unscrewed the radio but it wont come out !!!!.

Has anyone been able or needed to remove the radio and if so HELP!!!!

Many Thanks Neil 2010 RRS TDV8 Overfinch GTS

Isn't there the aux connector in the back near the rear lighter ? Maybe you check where those wires lead and can tap in to the source. RRS Supercharged Java Black /Ebony 1st Edition

Hi

On my D3 I did some tests that identified the wires from the aux socket in the rear to the back of the head unit which made plumbing my ipod in its cradle much smarter, it worked well on the D3 and would like to do the same on the RRS as the lose wires going between the seats and pluging in the back are anoying me already.

Thanks Neil 2010 RRS TDV8 Overfinch GTS

Hi, I have found it, I found it by looking at the install instructions for the retro fit of the Handsfree Phone Kit for the D3 and the RRS

Radio Removal

Hi Neil,

I'm also battling with this, i've managed to remove the surrounding panel and remove the screws but it seems like the radio is catching near the bottom somewhere, could you point to the handsfree retrofit topic as I can't seem to find it.

Regards

Jason

Would someone mind telling me how you got the radio out?
I have the dash pieces off and all the screws out, but can't seem
to get the radio out.

Remove the silver trim around the top and remove any screws visible. Remove the knob on the gear shilft by pulling straight up then open the arm rest box and carefully remove the the centre console ie: pocket and gear shift this will reveal more screws the aircon must come out before the radio or else you'll break clips

In the passenger footwell if you remove the side panel you will find a multiplug - can't remeber without looking but you will find a connection from here to aux input.

France 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 S Java Black

Hi,
Sorry for my pooor english... I am from France.
I am a owner of a RRS TDV6S, and i try to connect my ipod to the radio aux.
-I've tried to remove the radio panel, but it seems impossible (I removed the screws #1 ) to pull out the radio
how should I proceed ? how identify the aux wires ?

- Another way seems to find aux wires behind the foot passenger side panel (in France : driver side because LHD vehicle ?)
What are the colors of the aux wires , for connections ?

Thanks for your help

Haven't done it for a bit but you will need to get heater/vent panel out to reveal final fixings, If remember this may also mean top panel of transmission tunnel, its all quite a painful job that lot with bits that will break easy. I dont undertand why you are no picking up from the aux feed in the back, got to be easier. At my age my memory is crap so I take no responsibility for your area being littered with RRS bits - best of luck

Done !!
---------------------
Remove the audio unit side trim panels.
- Release the 6 clips

Remove floor consol upper panel
- unscrew the 2 screws
- release the 6 clips

Get the radio out !

2 round rubber wires

Locating the aux-in wires :
-remove the passenger side front kickpanel trim (LHD)
- disconnect the green multiplug after locating the round "rubber" wire with 3 wires (black, blue, red)

cotefarmboy said : Note: These wires terminate here and are only used if the LR DVD system is fitted so you won't cause any problem by disconnecting them.

- cut these 3 wires and connect to a standard 3.5mm stereo extension lead (black= ground, blue= right channel, red = left channel)

Plug the Ipod or any mp3 player to the 3.5 jack
