United Kingdom 2005 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Rimini Red
V8 in - 4.4 out !!!

My dealer has just returned from a Landrover conference where he was told all about LR plans for 2006. He tells me that the V8 will be launched in October / November 2006. At the same time the 4.4 petrol will be dropped (I assume just in the UK market). The range will then be 2.7 TDv6, 3.6 TDv8 and 4.2 Supercharged. I have already put my name down on his waiting list for a TDv8 Twisted Evil . I seriously considered cancelling my TDv6 order but thought that as it arrives in 2 weeks and its still a year till the TDv8 is available I'll stick with it. Bet the second hand TDv6's take a bit of hammer when the TDv8 comes out (I'll budget for at least a £10k hit plus an extra £6k pricing for same spec TDv8) Crying or Very sad . I reckon the 4.4's value will plummet Shocked , but the Supercharged will keep their cache so maybe not too much damage there.... Cool

Might call my salesman tomorrow and ask further questions on it and see if he'll let me put my name down on a DV8. L319 D4 HSE

It probably won't accelerate any faster in the 0-60 race than the 4.2S/C but it will have tons more torque and in-gear acceleration will probably on a par with the S/C but combined cycle fuel consumption and CO2 emissions will be a lot better! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Doubt performance will be better than the SC, but hopefully it will be good enough to tempt me into the dark side for once L319 D4 HSE

HHmmmm decisions - decisions - decisions Confused

I only do about 8k - 10k mileage a year

I own the car ( supercharged ) privately

So, would it be worth swapping to Dv8 ? I really am not sure. It wont perform as well as the Supercharged overall. Will I save enough money from the add fuel economy gained over the loss I will make and cost of trading in ( bit of a false economy ) and as I run it personally tax & emmissions are not an issue.

So what I am saying is I really need a V12 Shocked

For that small an annual mileage stick with your Supercharged and enjoy the performance! The depreciation on the Supercharged is likely to be awful when you come to sell it too. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

The only thing I may consider is that it would probably cost little to change due to the difference in cost between the two - thus putting me into a new 56 plated car or even for the 1/1/07 esp if they have introduced a few changes/additions/revisions to the car?

HHmmm lots of ifs and buts....... wait and see - me thinks Confused

Electric lumbar and steering wheel

rubber mats that meet in the rear
better rear lights
self closing tailgate

Sounds great, but I bet they don't put it in D3 Crying or Very sad

I wonder what it will do mpg (if you don't use the right hand pedal too much)

Bet they will - TDv6 doesn't comply with the new Emox rules that come into force in 2006 so it is having to be modified. I would imagine mpg will not be far off what the TDv6 gives, just to keep the Robin Sunflowers of this world quiet. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
