Hi back again .... regret selling my RRS a few years ago so now going to change my LR Discovery Sport 2016 and my Audi A5 cab 2012 Shiraz Red. Hoping for advice on which Sport to get up to 25k ?
Any advice appreciated RRS HSE DYNAMIC 2015 ODESSEY RED

United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Orkney Grey

£25k gets you a L494 with the 3.0 SDV6 with the odd 4.4 SDV8 of 5.0 SC popping up. All going to be around 60-70k miles. So your choice is spec and colour. You can get Autobiography at that price so you may as well get one of those unless a lower spec has some option that you're absolutely set on having.

That's it, basically.

The SDV6 has a bit of a reputation for snapping cranks but it's not a common problem in reality (forums are terrible places to read if you don't like bad news stories). The SDV8 has its own problems but they are a rarer model so fewer stories abound. The 5.0 has the odd problem too but, again, it's a rarer model than the SDV6.

Which to get? Low annual mileage? Get the 5.0SC and enjoy the performance without fear of crippling annual fuel costs. High annual mileage? Get one of the diesels but realise that the 3.0 will give better mpg than the 4.4. Not much in it in terms of performance which is probably why it's not very common and was dropped from the line up over time.

If you want to tow then be aware that some L494 were made without low range so if you think you might need low range (and I have found it useful when towing as well as when off road), check that the car you're looking at has it. From memory, the HSE didn't have low range (but could be spec'd with it if required) whereas the HSE Dynamic and the Autobiography came with it as standard. Likewise the active rear diff and torque vectoring - standard on the HSE Dynamic and AB but not available on the HSE.

Not sure what else one can say. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed
