United Kingdom 2011 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Orkney Grey
Air suspension fault. All bags deflate.

So my 2011 HSE has yet another issues

Imover the last 13 months I have changed the air bags as they had burst.

Today I’m driving along fine and I come off the motorway and get a red warning stating I have a suspension fault, max speed 30mph.

All four air bags deflate.

The bags are not leaking as once I got the suspension to reinflate I managed another 100 miles before the fault returned.

Any hints or ideas what’s causing the issue

When the bags are inflated I have no fault codes. All sensors are getting 5 volts.

When it deflates, my OB2 doesn’t give any faults. So I’m very confused. Leave it 5 minutes then they inflate again, and is drivable again

One issue that can cause that is a calibration corruption issue - if the system thinks it's cross axled when it obviously shouldn't be, i.e. at normal road speeds, it drops to the stops (bags deflate). Also, if it loses more than one height sensor, it drops to the stops.

I had this happen to me years ago on my MY08 TDV8. I'd been trying to finesse the ride height using a GAP IIDTool and had apparently got the values to close to indicating a cross axle. Only caused a problem on a dual carriage way some time later when it suddenly threw up the red suspension light and dropped to the stops. Turned off and on again, reinflated and drove on. When reading up on it, I found out about the cross axle error so redid the calibration so it was normal and the problem never reoccurred.

From the manual:
- Vehicle on bump stops

- Suspension fault

- Two chimes repeated regularly. Red indicator permanently illuminated

- Water ingress to
wiring harness or
connectors
- Air leak(s)
- Vehicle in
transportation mode
- System not
calibrated or
calibration corrupt
- Implausible
articulation
symptoms detected
- Failure of multiple
height sensors
- Air suspension
control module
failure

- Visually inspect the wiring harness and
connectors for water ingress. Visually
inspect the system for air leakage.
Check the system mode and calibration
using the approved diagnostic system.
Check for implausible articulation
symptoms, i.e. height sensor or linkage
fault, deflated air spring, under inflated
tire etc. Note implausible articulation
symptoms may be caused by an
un-calibrated height sensor. Check for
height sensor DTCs and refer to the
DTC index. Refer to the warranty policy
and procedures manual if a module is
suspect. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

And I'm surprised to hear that you've had suspension air bags burst. What caused that? Pretty rare as I understand it. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

If the red warning light came on, you have a fault code logged

Try a different code reader, ideally something JLR specific and not a £20 OBD reader Thumbs Up
