H/Brake MOT Fail

Been a while since, but a little lack of knowledge leads me to a question about a handbrake failure on one side at the MOT .
I haven’t done anything with the electric handbrake , until now .
I have removed the disc/hub combined a reckons there is little wrong with the shoes , it must be the cable . Is the mechanism behind the exhaust shielding where both cables meet up . I have pulled the hand/brake fuse just in case there should be an active state with me fiddling.

Update, gone to all the trouble to release the rear right cable , but it seems fine, so as I thought the mechanism was self adjusting , I know think the adjustment through the disc hole was too far out for the actuator to pull the brakes on .

A common problem is the lever on the rear of the shoe. It gets siezed up.

If you have an OBDII reader (like the autel AP200), shove the disc back on (over the shoes) and put the brakes into service mode. Remove the fuse again, and then take the shoes off, and ensure the lever pivot is free.

Thanks for your reply .
I replaced the cable and disc, with taking the ridge off the circumference, without the calliper and adjusted the shoes up , and now get a park brake on the rear right , it looks lke I now need to aadjust up the left rear now which was fine for test but out now. I wa under the thought that the shoes were self adjusting , therefore leading me down the wrong path !

Oh , I have the GAP IID TOOL, in service test it just looks like it unjams ? Confusing to me , I also have a pretty standard Autel , but it does do electronic park service , will have to try it .

So got it passed, although working now but a lot less pressure on offside

(original failure}. I am thinking that the the shoes are at their limit as in the drum wear , so unable to reach the correct tolerance .
Can anyone help me in my diagnosing.
