I have a 2016 RRS Autobiography and am experiencing an annoying issue with the powered tailgate - it opens and closes as it should (ie on the key fob, from the dash and the tailgate switch itself). However it will also open on its own if I walk close to the rear of the car with my keys in my pocket ( whether car is locked or not) - I’ve confirmed it’s not me inadvertently hitting key fob button. Anyone experienced similar / offer any advice as to what maybe wrong ? Thank you

Maybe you have the gesture tailgate option fitted, where you swipe you foot under the sides of the rear bumper and it automatically opens? I have it on my L405 and find it handy although can sometimes be triggered accidentally. No such luxury on my L494, which I can survive without!

Sounds like “gesture tailgate” to me.

I used to have to leave my keys inside when washing my l494 as the action of the hand and sponge on the lower back bumper used to open the damn tailgate!

More annoying was having to almost kick the rear silencer to make it actually work when I needed it.

Thankfully, not fitted on my L461 now!
