While changing the height sensors on my 2010 L320 today (what a right royal pain they are to change... thanks JLR) I noticed a split in the bellows on the drivers side rear strut.

The actual airbag is inside the metal tube and the bellows just stops crap getting to the tube alongside the moving airbag. So long as it's clean in there and you can stop anything getting in (gorilla/duck tape short term fix?), then it should be ok.
