Security

After buying a late L464 last year to see how I got on with it, I've used it more than anything else and as such moved to the current car. Fortunate enough to find an autobiography with stormer pack - unbelievable the difference this makes, wouldn't have one without now! But I'm completely unsure about security. The L464 was bought for bargain as no one could insure them, for my peice of mind I installed a Starline S96 making it the safest car I own (used this on other vehicles).

I was under the impression that LR had sorted these issues out with the new car but in reading this forum it seems not 😞. Should I install another Starline for peice of mind or is this safe/secure? If anyone is aware of a better option (if needed) please also let me know.

As an aside I set my account with a pin, but not putting this in the car starts and works the same, what does this pin do it doesn't seem to secure anything?

Thanks for your help/thoughts πŸ‘

The latest L461 is more secure than the L494. There is lots of info at JLR or on YouTube about the changes that have been made to UWB technology etc.

Some owners still put immobilisers on for extra security. The Pin on InControl has nothing really to do with security.

Thanks. What does the pin actually lock/not allow? Seems like it's not worth enabling?

Oh dear poor guy 😭. Why is it that LR still have the opinion that these are unstealable? For sure I'll fit a Starline S96 asap, £1000 not to worry and not to wake up to a missing car really isn't a problem but shouldn't be necessary 🀦. It's a shame though as it will only effect values and insurance premiums like the old one. So lucky there isn't really an alternative, if only Porsche still did diesels!

Hi,

My L461 AB is my fifth Sport on the bounce.

The day after I collected it (new) I had a GHOST-2 fitted, configured on the gearbox.

I can still use remote start but if the GHOST isn’t cleared the engine stops stone dead when you select any gear and it then sounds and feels like the starter motor is dead.

Using the phone App, you don’t even need the PIN. Turn the app off when parked and turn it back on when returning to the car - Simples!

Great peace of mind for Β£450 fitted at home.

Thanks, I'll probably go for a full alarm system with tracking for the price difference, seems it's necessary again πŸ˜•.

Love the new car though, a massive step forward from the previous model, not a rattle or squeak, eerily quiet with no wind or road noise. Feels very solid and well put together and the handling and turn in with the stormer pack is another level, much tighter turning circle also massive bonus πŸ‘

Not looked underneath are there speakers in the exhaust are is it just through the sound system, the new grunty exhaust sound isn't a bad thing either!
