I don't know about the FL2 system, but while BT is a standard (as standard as most standards, anyway) each phone doesn't have a common approach to its interface so how can a car view a phone generically and integrate with the phone book etc?

They should do - but each manufacturers implementation of the standard seems to vary.. its a common theme nowadays...

Nokia phones are usually rock solid in how they perform. However other manufacturers seem to have caught up, Sony Ericssons implementation of bluetooth seems to provide more functionallity across a wider range of devices - TomToms are one example I have experience of. RRS TDV8 HSE - Hybrid TV - Sunroof - Adaptive Front Headlights - Harman/Kardon LOGIC7 system

My point exactly... BT is an industry standard, but as with most standards everyone implements their own extensions to it which breaks the standard for everyone else.

I think the connection idea is best, a £10 lead not best part of £100 for a cradle. I'm not so sure on the sim card bit as it would be a bit fiddly taking the phone apart each time.

Agreed, you'd have to go the second SIM card route, or do it the VA way and have a PAYG SIM for your car and do the necessary diverting. All a bit messy really...
