New SVR owner best security | |
New SVR owner here, not sure why Ive done it tbh, insane insurance, mpg and extremely desirable to thieves, but here we are.
So my vehicle has been updated with N828v5 Theft Mitigation Phase 3, does this make me any safer?
My vehicle and keys are quite a distance away, so that should negate the relaying of the key. My vehicle is parked in a very public area with 24 hour security, which most thieves wouldn’t want to hang around for a long period trying to nick it.
I am not sure the process on Range Rovers, but owning BMW M cars, i had multiple theft attempts. Process was if it hasn’t had the security update, they can break the window or open the door, plug into OBD and take the car in minutes. If it has had the security update, they need to sit there for an hour or so and reprogram the the ECU from memory. Visual deterrent, i.e. steering lock along with the security update seemed to stop the attempts.
What's the thieves process with a Range Rover? Is it relay the key? or can they plug into OBD and hack away in minutes or do they need to spend some time on it if key is not in range?
Is a ghost/starlink immobiliser 100% necessary? Visual deterrents?
What are the best options?
Thanks
