Like wise…
I’d be very interested in hearing how it turns out. I wonder how difficult it is to install.

^ installation is not very difficult, just finicky because you have to remove all the trim starting with the rear aircon control panel

Recently put one in wife's 2015 Evoque. Dead simple to fit and does the job. Not that keen on wireless Carplay as its a bit slower to respond but wired works like a dream. Would recommend. I paid £106 delivered.

Merry Christmas everyone.

OK So it's time for an update.

The Android Auto box arrived in record time, Ordered on the 21st and arrived on the 28th that's 10 days sooner than they quoted, which was nice...

As mentioned in another post the instructions in the box were not all that helpful but the YouTube clip I found was spot on and easy to follow, iPad on the dash.

The only thing I could add is that when you come to the part were you place the unit into the void at the back of the dash behind the head unit I would suggest you put on a glove... There are LOTS of sharp things in there and you will end up bleeding if you don't. Wink

It took about 3 hours in total to get it done, probably could've done it a bit quicker but I got all OCD as there are lots of little Knocks and Crannies with fluff and dust in so I spent the extra time with Henry the hoover and some wet wipes cleaning everything. All I can say is don't rush when putting it back together, you don't want to break off any of the little tags that hold it together.

I think it took as long to work out how it all works as it did to fit it...
Everything seems to work as expected except I didn't Know it would replace the built in navigation it's not a big problem as Google maps/Waze seem to do a much better job of it and 1 other thing.

I wondered if anyone has had anything similar?

When you're in the app ie. using navigation and everything is working well it suddenly returns to the cars home screen, you can still hear the music & navigation working but you have to press the button to get the screen back. Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

Anyway I hope this is of some help to anyone thinking of buying & fitting one of these. I'd recommend it even though I'm having a little technical hitch at the moment, I'm hopeful it's something simple.

All the best and a happy new year to you all...

Thanks for the update that was very helpful.

I am aware you lose the built in Nave, but that's pretty naff anyhow. Do all the steering wheel controls also work.

may be its time to get one.

Hello...

OK here's what I've learned so far.

If you're listening to music via the AA unit you can turn the volume up & down but you have to use the screen to change tracks.

I'm pretty sure the phone works OK but I saw something on YouTube that it's important to unpair your phone from the cars built in system as it can confuse the AA but it can handle calls no problem.
Plus you need to set the sound source to AUX so you can hear everything. Something to note you can't listen to the cars radio with navigation. ie. it's either AA for music, Nav, Podcast and so on OR built in radio, CD (does anyone still use these), USB and iPod.

PS... It was £149 delivered.

I hope that made sense....

OK an update on the update.

I sent a message to the company that make the AA unit in China. They were very helpful and after about 10 minutes and a couple of photos they told me that the car system has a time-out setting which needs to be set to "OFF" and hay presto it stays on maps now.

Plus I found a new music player App. "AIMP" which lets you play music stored on your phone without the need to use mobile data. The icon appears on the AA screen and you can see all of your albums.

Hope this is helpful

Happy New year

Colin...
