2010 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Adriatic Blue

Probably still get scrapped as there's still a suspension fault and quite a bit of rust underneath. So I think between all that and high tax that's it I'm done.
I knew I should have kept my other car (61 C220 cdi AMG sport) fkn idiot that I am Evil or Very Mad

Rather than scrapping it, why not just sell it? You'll get more back than you will from a scrappy. And it means that someone who wants an RRS can sort it and enjoy it.

And they are all rusty underneath. Laughing 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Had to laugh at Johnny's "simple fix" yea right..
I'm trying to ie all it but most know how expensive they are to run and fix hence not had one asking plus to near Christmas.
As I said, I know now I should have kept the Merc.

I miss my old TDV8. A great engine in a great vehicle. Go anywhere, do anything, tow anything all in comfort and with a nice V8 rumble and bags of grunt. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Could be one for sale in Scotland. £40 for a used alternator, fitting and suspension sorted - I reckon you could get it all done for £500.

Scrap value say £1,000 and you’ve got a lovely car to waft around in for less than £2k.

Ok thanks, so do you have a link for it

Again thanks for the link "how to" I watched a few vids but so far can't find one that has really good close detail but reading you link was good.

I probably could do it as I've did a few things over the years but 2 years since did anything now. Plus if doing it now I'll be outside and bl00dy cold as we all know.

Hi Axl - what link were you after ? My TDV8 broke down this morning on the drive. Had to use the wife's car for the school run.

Called out the RAC who were there in 20 mins. Symptoms were the car just wouldn't start, no electrics, nothing.

After checking the battery condition, which was good, the RAC chap waggled the battery leads and found that the lead that clamps onto the main battery lead was slightly loose. He nipped it up and all good.

The reason for explaining all that, is that it's not necessarily the car that was at fault, but a bit of bad luck that after going into the garage the other week, the cable clamp hadn't been fully tightened.

The chap than spent 5 mins waxing lyrical about how good the TDV8 engine was and the L320 in general. He said it was JLR's best ever engine and said that they just don't go wrong. He's ex Land Rover trained.

Yes, you can have issues such as starters, loose leads, alternators etc which go wrong over time, but they can go wrong on absolutely any car of a certain age.

Stick with yours, get the alternator fixed and you won't get anywhere near the driving experience for the price.

The one biggy for the TDV8 is the turbos but even that isn't a certainty.

Like all older cars, much of your experience is determined by how the previous owner/s looked after it. One owned by someone who cared for it is a very different prospect to one that has had owners who couldn't afford / simply wouldn't pay for the necessary stuff to be done when required. That's the same with any second hand buy, but when the cars are complex and reasonably expensive to service/fix, it's a problem that increases over time.

I had the alternator out of my first car a couple of times. Dead easy on the drive with just a spanner, a piece of timber and bit of rope (to help hold it whilst the bolts were being undone). Job done in minutes. Wouldn't even consider doing it on my RRS. It would take longer to access the bolts on the RRS than the whole job took on that first car. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
