Not for me

Not long got a 9 reg RRS tdv8 but already I'm not keen on it I don't know what it is but it's not for me. I've had RR's before ie Vogue and old P38 and thought I'd try another.

I feel a bit of an ass driving them.
Plus the £770 tax (paying up) is now grating on me.
I'm not bad mouthing them as they're great cars but I shouldn't have got another.

I sold my L320 after it needed a new crankshaft sensor ...something you cannot do at the side of the road! If traveling abroad you can change some parts prior and carry spares but that design is a roadside repair too far . Always listen to old people or when they die you will live on in ignorance.

Dont spend money on old cars you will never get it back

your reply just made me laugh as I thought exactly the same, answering the wrong post.

Mind you I detect a slight sence of humour failure as well Wink

No worries matey, thick skin here, had wosre chucked at me ,....

Hope all goes well with your Mother Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

I feel your pain on the Tax, it's ridiculous really. mine is a second car due to a company car, so does a hell of a lot less miles and therefore less road wear and tear and pollution than the cheap tax Lexus.

On the flip side I do just love driving it in the evenings and weekends. As a daily driver I would be challenged to keep it to be fair..

Take care

Feel your pain Axl - also made me chuckle and hope all’s well !

The way I look at it is whether you can get anything close to the driving experience for anywhere near the cost - tax, insurance, maintenance etc included.

My TDV8 just had a replacement offside manifold and egr brings replaced. £450 in labour and £82 in parts. The manifold was £40 used (genuine JLR part) with a new Febi gasket £42 delivered). A new JLR manifold is £800 ish.

I justified it to myself with the fact that to lease something close to the driving quality, would cost me more than the repair cost of the manifold.

The L320 RRS isn't a Vogue or a P38. It's not strictly a Range Rover. It's a rebadged, rebodied Discovery.

Why do you feel a bit of an ass driving it?

As for the tax, it's a known cost of driving a fairly old large vehicle. They're all pretty expensive to tax. No surprise, really. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

I have a 2010 L320 V8 Aspirated which was my daily until recently.

I never felt an ass or a knob driving it. Now my partner drives it daily and she loves it.

The paintwork still has a deep shine, the leather is in great condition and it almost still smells new. We will never sell it. My daily is now my L461 P400e which I bought last week. Its lovely (so far).

Why don't you like it?
