But, and its a big BUT here, I prefer to have my car serviced at the main dealer for one reason alone: its the ability to have a monthly service plan. No Inde near me offers this. My car's annual service is January and I don't know about anyone else but, I'm pretty skint after Xmas. This way, big bills and big services are part of the plan. Cost is about £62 p/m including MOT's for up to 5 years, locking out inflation too.
Always has OEM spec parts and fluids with a full LRSH from new on a coming up to 13 year old L320. I plan to keep the car for another 5 years at least so, it will be 18 years old and with me for 14 years total. Other than ACE pipes and consumables, this has been really reliable, touch wood. I honestly feel servicing it like this is the reason why. Really though, its about the ability to spread the predictable running costs.
Check it out for yourselves. For me, it makes total sense.

BTW, because my main dealer had always serviced the car, when I ran into trouble with the front ACE pipes, they worked with me because they know me. I managed to source OEM parts and they fitted them at a price less than my local inde who didn't want to touch it. You really only know who you can rely on when the sh!t hits the fan. If they hadn't known the car, they wouldn't have worked on it.
That’s a very expensive way to buy parts. For example I needed inner and outer tie rods for my l494, called landrover as I needed them immediately, they quoted around £700. Quality parts from an independent was about £150.
