Hello again and an update | |
I am quite an old timer around here, since 2008. So much has happened in my life since I was last here.
Divorce (not initiated by me) chance meeting and partnering with a wonderful lady, I have been into retirement and back out of retirement. I purchased a European automotive service and repair workshop in Perth, Australia where we look after quite a few RRS with varied lineages, some loved, some not so loved. It's part of my semi retirement plan and it gives me my car fix and fixes my cars.
What about an RRS? A couple of years ago I purchased a black 2010 (facelift) 5.0 V8 L320 with just 36,000 miles and in truly immaculate condition, the back seat and boot were unused. Over the 1st year, last 2 years, my workshop replaced front and rear brakes with Brembos, a transfer box seal due to a slight weep, lower control arms (the dry weather kills the rubbers here), water pump and the suspension air compressor.
It has been my urban daily until recently, my partner now uses it as her daily and loves it. It has now done around 57,000 miles, is serviced religiously every 6 months or 6000 miles and has been 100% dependable. We regularly use it for weekends away and think nothing of 600 road miles each way over a weekend, we are not off road people so its not for bush work.
Last week, I was in the UK on a business trip. I rented a P400 RRS MHEV and fell in love with it after 1000 miles of driving during the week. After returning from London yesterday (Sunday) and carefully considering the idea for at least a few minutes, today I purchased a 2024 demo model with just a few hundred miles on it, making us a 2x RRS family.
