L322 4.2 into a L320?

Hi all,

I've got a 2006 4.2 SC V8 (engine code STVH) which has been cooked. Head gasket is finished but as yet unsure on what else.

We've been offered a 4.2 at quite reasonable money but it's out of a 2005 Full Fat instead of a Sport, I reckon engine code on that will be MTVH).

Anyone done that swap before? Just trying to make sure it can be done before buying an engine!

According to car-part.com which is a searchable database of north American salvage yards, the 2006 4.2L is somehow special and interchangeable with zero other vehicles. The 2007 4.2L RRS engine is interchangeable with 2007-2009 RRS but not FFRR. Perhaps someone has delved into why they are different. 2009 Range Rover Sport Supercharged

Perhaps the mounting points on the block are cast in a different location between the RRS and the FFRR. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

For anyone discovering this post, it was doable.

Engine code of donor vehicle was MTVH and we subbed it into a vehicle with engine code STVH - with a few minor modifications, but the overall engine was the same with no significant differences (manifold and mounts) that couldn't just be unbolted from the old engine.
