l320 centre screen

After a bit of advice please....

i have an l320 rrs 2007, which didnt have the centre screen when i bought it...someone gave me a centre screen and when i checked in the dash i could'nt see the cables to connect it.

Therefore has anyone retrofitted one before and if so do i just need to purhcase a centre screen wiring loom and will this just plug in under the dash or do i need anything else?

I am not interested in sat nav or anything like that - just the 4x4 info to be honest, so i can check level sensors, etc....

anyone got any experience with this?

thanks! Bow down

You will need the 6CD headunit to drive it.

You need an optical fibre orange MOST cable to connect between radio

And you will need connector to provide power

thanks andy - why do you need the 6cd head unit? - will the standard cd head unit not work?

No. All the 4x4 data comes out the 6 cd head unit on optical fibre.

L320 center screen is one of the most annoying things about the car. It’s really bright at night and needs turning off every time you drive it because it doesn’t remember its previous state. One of the best things I did to improve the usability of the car was unplug the thing. I did look at swapping it for a cubby, but it requires quite a lot of dash frame swap.

The 4x4 info isn’t very interesting.

There is a light sensor below the revcounter (prefacelift models). This should make the screen automatically adjust its brightness

It is if you're driving off tarmac. Thumbs Up 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

well i have found a 6cd head unit and orange cable - just having difficulty finding the power wires for the screen - will have to look around some scrap yards

one question - is the 6cd-565 a plug and play upgrade over the standard head unit?

Arh the next issue.

Do you have lots of green wires at the head unit. ? I guess you do. These are speaker wires.

6cd units usually have an black amp under the drivers seat. This is where all the green wires usually are.

I don’t know if the 6cd unit is capable of driving speakers directly. It maybe.

You may need a gap iid to configure.

Most people want to get away for these systems. Better off buying an aftermarket headunit

I think u can get these half price from AliExpress ?

Check they have 4x4 display p

cheers andy....well i think its just too much hassle and alot more complicated than just swapping....i was only interested in doing it so i could have the 4x4 info on the screen and the 6cd was just a bonus, but if it means adding amps, recoding, etc then its not worth the hassle...

think i will use the cash to buy a new diesel heater since mine is on the blink... Thumbs Up

anyone need a replacement screen? - have one for sale now Laughing Laughing

Does it? I can see what traction control mode it’s in on the dash. The air suspension info never seemed much use.
