Difference between p460e and p550e | |
Having purchased a p460e, I was curious as to what the difference was in the powertrain / engine compared to the p550e. I was uncertain whether the power difference was due to a reduced engine output, or a reduced electric output. I couldn't find the information anywhere online. However, after purchasing the p460e and receiving a confirmation certificate for the vehicle, I can confirm that the p460e has the 394hp rated 3.0 Engine and the 215hp Electric Motor. (Exactly the same as the p550e)
Therefore in conclusion: The only difference is the amount of electric assistance the motor is allowed to add when in hybrid mode. My guess is that in hybrid mode in the p460e, the electric motor adds 60hp, and in the p550e, it adds 150 hp. In all other modes: electric only, and engine only, both vehicles have identical power figures.
This explains why there are companies out there online offering a 'power upgrade kit' (not a remap) for the p460e to convert it to a p550e, as I'm guessing it's just telling the software to add more electric assistance.
I hope this information is helpful to anyone who is looking to purchase either of these vehicles.
