PSA: Some 2024 Range Rover Models May Shift Into Neutral

https://www.carscoops.com/2024/06/faulty-c...er-models/

"Jaguar Land Rover is recalling 19 Range Rover models in the United States due to an issue with the clutch plates housed within the hybrid transmission.

The company initially defined the recall as a “non-compliance recall” but has since updated it to a “voluntary safety recall.” It says that the clutch plates may have been manufactured with a flatness out of tolerance to the engineering specifications. This can trigger excessive heat build-up and degrade the material within the clutch pack. It may also cause transmission oil contaminant that blocks the hydraulic system, rendering the clutch pack inoperable.

Owners of affected vehicles will not be alerted to the problem. Land Rover notes that reduced oil pressure can cause the transmission to shift into Neutral and trigger a loss of drive, increasing the risk of a crash.

The recall impacts 2024 Range Rover and 2024 Range Rover Sport models. A total of 9 Range Rover models built between September 11, 2023, and November 9, 2023, are being recalled, as well as 10 Range Rover Sports manufactured from September 4, 2023, to October 27, 2023. ..." --

I saw this too. Mine was registered 23 Dec 2023 so could well be within the build date of affected ones. Not heard anything but plan to check with dealer. 2024 Firenza Red P460e Dynamic SE

Faulty Tranny

I think mine was built in this period as well, but I have little faith in either of our local JLR dealers. They told me the fuel and hybrid flaps fitted properly, when I could nearly get a pencil in the gaps !

Rolling with laughter

If you get any information on this issue or the recall., pleas can you post here. I will do the same...

I note there is nothing in TOPIX on it.

Cheers

Dealer update on Transmission issue

This is what my supplying dealer said about the position. So apparently we have to wait for the DVSA to say its an issue once it happens to people in the UK, assume the Tranny is the same regardless of Left or RH Drive. This is slightly worrying if this could happen at high speed in the traffic !.

Statement below

I have recent experience of a similar situation with another client. They had a concern for which a recall was issued in the US market. I am therefore aware that it is the DVSA that issues safety recalls if they identify a problem, and then the manufacturer will then contact you to advise on next steps.

At present, a recall has not been issued for the concern you mention. The US market is a different market to ours. I understand that recalls issued in other markets often don't result in recalls being issued in the UK market. As such, I would say that there is no cause for concern with regards to your car. Should this change, you will be contacted.

I trust this clarifies.

Kind regards,

Rowdie,

If you have full access to Topix, look at “Field Actions” under “Bulletins”.

N903 is there with “Automatic Transmission - Loss of drive”.

My paupers account can’t view the details!!!
