No Ignition

My L320 has suddenly stopped working. I was out and using it fine last night then this evening the car ignition wont switch on.

The battery is fine
Remote lock/unlock works
I can't see any fuses are bad (tried the ones I thought but not EVERY one)
Satnav and radio work fine
Headlights, hazards work
Internal cabin lights work

Instrument cluster has nothing
Centre console has nothing
No heating/cooling
No EPB
Car obviously doesn't turn over

Basically pressing the start button has no action whatsoever. Would this be the button itself or maybe a fuse/relay that i'm unaware of? I also attached my ODB2 scanner which displayed the systems that were live but nothing that requires ignition 1 stage.

I've read about engine earth connection being a problem perhaps? But can't find how or where i check this?

Having thought more about this it seems there must be something else other than the start button not working. The fact that the instrument cluster has no life even when unlocking which it normally does (the little picture of the car). I have no idea that is the point of failure before this?

From my experience, it doesn't sound like an engine earth as you would still have power to instruments etc (you can check by connecting a jump lead from a soild steel bracket on the engine to a good earth). It could be the main earth. If you connect your jump lead to the earth post of the battery, then to a solid unpainted part of the chassis to test that.

I've gone down the route of instrument cluster dead. I phoned a local auto electrical guy who fixes them (£285 which I think is a bit steep), but he's local and time is against me with a road trip coming soon.

When I told him the problems I had and historic issues with flickering backlights and Trip computer resetting he reckoned he can sort it.

Will update when I get more info but hopefully he fixes it and I'm good to go. I normally always fix my own car so this stings but hey ho.

Update for anyone who may have same issue:

The old cluster turned out to be completely dead and unrecoverable. Initial problems were flickering lights and trip computer not saving (went on for months)
I bought a used cluster off ebay and got it programmed then refitted myself. All sorted.

Crazy how a bad instrument cluster can prevent so much of the car from working, even engine starting.
