I do spend less on fuel now, it's true.

BUT:

I can also do 155mph should the road permit.

I enjoy laughing as I leave RRS SCs for dead at the lights (if I was childish and puerile, which I am).

I get to go round corners without having to lean the other way like on a quad bike.

My service indicator shows me I don't need a service until Feb 2008 (at which point I might even be on the same set of tyres that I currently have).

I can fit all of my family stuff into the boot.

My 6280 works perfectly with the PTI (it even uploads the address book over Bluetooth).

So that would be a yes, then.

Yes, winter is a bit of a sticky wicket. I remember having to consign myself to home when I had my M3 during snowy periods. I live at the bottom of a valley and there was no way my M3 was getting up a snowbound hill Laughing I suspect the same will be true of the new wheels to a lesser extent.

Wales 2006 Range Rover Sport 4.4 V8 HSE Java Black

I reset computer at the top of a long hill recently and coasted down in neutral - got the MPG to read 282.5 - brilliant from a 4.4 petrol. Things quickly changed to 12.2 on the M4 at 90mph - oops sorry, 70 mph.
We should have a competition to see who can get it to read the most - photographic evidence reqd. Laughing Range Rover Evoque 5 door on order.

6000 miles on and still 22.3 mpg. You've reported as high as 35 mpg down to 22 mpg. Do we believe this a difference in engines or faulty gauges? !st Edition RRS S/C, Black on Black.

RRS HSE, Java, Alpaca, Bluetooth, Dynamic Pack, SC Grill, Black Badges, tints all round.

I've read that a diesel engine does not reach it's peak in terms of performance and efficiency only after about 25,000 km. Has anyone else heard of this? Does it make sense? I certainly know that my Volvo XC90 diesel runs better at 30,000km's than it did when new.

I always used Optimax/V-Power in all my cars despite the garages saying there is no need. Recently, one of my cars was playing up and not hot-starting, caused by excessive vapourization. Switched back to 95 RON petrol and all is well (this is the first time in history that Aston Works have fixed a problem and saved someone money at the same time). ECUs in today's car automatically correct for any difference in octane, but the extra surfactants and lubricants in high RON petrol can screw the system up.

Saves a bucket load of cash too.

This is also what I have heard, I have also heard that the biggest thing to make a diesel more economical is not to use it in stop start motoring, diesels like to run a constant revs for long periods rather than having lots of rev changes. Many folks who commute in a diesel would actually be as well off by running a petrol engined car. Any auto engine engineers here who can enlighten us? 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
