Wheel fitting tool

Just bought one of these, which arrived 24hrs later. Not used it yet, but will no doubt be invaluable as removing and re-fitting Rangey wheels always fills me with dread

Brilliant I have one ...
Put it on one of the top wheel studs . Put wheel in rough position and Lower the hub to align it just above the wheel hole then with a large screwdriver lever the tyre up from below and push it on EPLS Always listen to old people or when they die you will live on in ignorance.

I take it when you say “lower the wheel” you mean lower the hub with the jack ?

EPLS - took me a minute to get that, but will use it from now on !

Yes me idiot...the trick is to lift the wheel the last 6mm with a lever under the tyre....if the tyre is not off the ground ( on the lever) you cannot push it in over the adaptor. the lever lifts and lets you push the tyre towards the hub VEPLS

your e bay link does not work.. This does

Mine came as a pair one long and one short, makes it so easy to align the studs without busting a gut.

Could you put the tool on with the slot horizontal and then put the screwdriver through the bolt hole and use the lever that way ?

Why ? you have giggled the tyre towards the hub..lowered the hub to be almost aligned so just lift the tyre 6mm with a large screwdriver between the tyre and the ground .
But to answer the question YOU could do anything you want but why make life hard when its easy?

I have stopped watching this topic because the string of comments is just getting silly for so simple a bit of equipment Always listen to old people or when they die you will live on in ignorance.

By levering the wheel on to the tool through the bolt hole (putting the screwdriver in the slot on the tool) you avoid the sharp edges of the tool scratching the paint at the rear of the bolt hole, as the weight of the wheel is taken up on the smooth screwdriver shaft.

I assumed that’s what the slot was for ?

The slot is to undo it with a screwdriver if its too tight to un do by hand Always listen to old people or when they die you will live on in ignorance.

Best trick i was told was to put the wheel on a shovel then you can use your foot to lift it and put studs in both hands free.

This is smaller ,cheaper and takes up less space than a shovel. Always listen to old people or when they die you will live on in ignorance.
