United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Santorini Black
Disappearing DAB

Strange one this!!

First thing in the morning, a few times over the last couple of months, there has been "no reception" on my DAB radio (ie no channels whatsoever). And then after a short while it will spring in to life (sometimes after cycling through the other functions).

However, this morning it has stopped altogether!! no amount of cycling through Radio, TV etc managed to bring it to life. Tried to do a Channel List and nothing was shown and also tried Ensemble with no effect.

The DAB has had the software upgrade to solve the clash with the EPG problem.

Any ideas? or am I looking at a visit to the Dealers to try and explain it to them (not looking forward to that).

Thanks guys. MY12 RRS SDV6 HSE

If I'm honest, I don't think the DAB system in the RRS is all that good. I had constant problems with mine and in the end just listened to FM. The local dealer to me didn't really seem interested and said that all the RRS's with DAB were the same and it must have been the reception.
Since getting my BM, I listen to everything on DAB and have had one loss of reception that I recall, so it points to the LR tech being of low quality and only able to pick up a signal if you are next to the transmitter.

That said - the fact you have had yours, then lost it does seem a little weird, but I wouldn't get your hopes too high with the dealer being able to resolve it Wink ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

Yes, it's very strange.........I'm sort of hoping that it stays off so that I can take it to the Dealer and show them. But knowing how these things work I bet it will be fine when I get back to the station tonight. MY12 RRS SDV6 HSE

Hi Stevo,

I have been using DAB for over a year with no drop offs at all. Then just before Christmas I have had so poor reception that I have to switch to FM. I live in Aberdeenshire, and put it down to transmission problems rather than my receiver.
However my car was in for a service mid December but I don't think any software update was done, just wondering now! MY 2014 3.0 SDV6 HSE Dynamic

Holy thread resurrection, but at least it shows I’m searching for solutions before posting !

My DAB has started playing up - coincidentally after emerging from the body shop after having my wing replaced.

Some channels work ok, some favourites very intermittently. A lot of the time it just says “no reception”

I’ve decided me an auto tune which seems to restore channels very briefly, but then it generally goes into no reception mode.

Hopefully someone’s been able to resolve this in the last 10 yrs !

Thanks in advance

Theres got to be a fix for this surely!!!!

Ive replaced -

DAB/GPS antenna on the roof
All 3 antenna amplifiers above the rear side windows (used)
swapped out to a second hand DAB module (worked and stored channels once, then said no reception second and subsequent times since, put my original one back in now)

Really is doing my head in now, I like listening to DAB, strange how I describe above the one time it worked.

Maybe a MOST canbus issue?
Software update at dealer maybe?

Haven't a clue, cost me best part of £250 so far, but to no avail.

Please help, trouble is I assume, people fix it and never come back to the furum with the fix.

Dean

Men seems to be operating ok now, albeit sometimes cutting in and out. Haven’t had the no reception message for a while, although I’ve not been too many miles away.

Does atmospheric conditions have an impact on the signal ? I’m assuming it’s satellite based like gps. Be interesting to know how it works.

Good for you.

Seems a common problem across the land rover range of this era.

There's got to be a fix somewhere along the line.

DAB is still being broadcast in the UK, other countries have migrated to DAB+ but were still supporting I'm lead to believe.

I beleive we are in the process of migrating to DAB+ and phasing out DAB.
It maybe why DAB reception is getting worse as they turn off some transmissions.
