I have been running 275/45 x 21" SVR wheels and tyres on my MY13 S/C L320 for nearly 5 years now and have had absolutely no issues with the brakes or anything else whatsoever. The speedo is spot on and the ride fine, the offset is no issue either. Oh and welcome to the forum. Can I ask how you deduced there would be a 7% reduction in braking efficiency?

Cheers

I was thinking of changing my 21s for a set of 20s but after reading this I’ll keep them On for now.

United Kingdom 2010 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Stornoway Grey

Hi Dave B,

New member and my first post so forgive me for any schoolboy errors! I have just become the owner of a MY10 TDV8 and I am looking to add some L405 21” wheels, 275/45/21 as you have, I’m happy with the radio is etc but I just wanted to check if you had any issues with the reduced offset I know it’s only 4mm but how is the clearance to the callipers?

Thanks

Evening Lee, we conversed briefly via fleabay reference the winter tyres I have.

Anyway, no issues at all with caliper clearance, and I have the 6 pot Brembos.

I'll send you a PM, hope as a newbie you can open it.

Hi Dave, now it’s definitely a small world! I’m pleased that they fit no issue, just been struggling to decide between keeping my 20” and getting some winter rubber or upgrading to the 21”‘, ideally I would keep both, put some winter tyres on the 20”s and have the 21”s for the summer but I’m not sure I can make my budget stretch unless I can sell on my 20” Pirelli’s. Choices choices Yawn

I will check my PM and see if I can access them yet

Hi Lee. I’m actually selling my 21’s with Pirelli scorpion tyres that still have 6mm of tread on all four

Bit of a thread resurrection, but finally found some 9.5J wheels at a decent price, that will allow me put my Brembos on.

Same as these and will need a refurb, but for less than £400 with nearly new Pirelli Scorpions they’re not expensive.

Tyres are 275 45 21 which I think Col runs, so just checking that there’s no issues with the size, aside from an approx 7% rolling radius increase.

As my car is also Stornoway Grey, I’m thinking bright silver is a bit too bright. Anyone got any thoughts on decent colours ? Black is definitely out, but the LR Technical Grey isn’t too bad, but a bit too matchy with the body colour ?

As I have said before I have been running 275/45 x 21" rims and tyres since the factory warranty ran out in excess of 8 years and have had absolutely no issues whatsoever the speedo is spot on around 30mph at seventy it might read about 71/72mph. The only suspension bushes the car has ever had are front lower arms and that was because a hydro bush was leaking, admittedly the car has only done 85K, even lowered the suspension slightly when fitted larger rims in addition to the alignment a couple of times. Only run premium tyres not cheapo Chinese ditch finders as well

Cheers

Picked up my wheels at the weekend and all well. The current tyres are Pirelli Scorpion Verde and the rim protection isn’t the best.

I’m humming and harring on whether to get the wheels fully re-furbed (there’s some light kerbing and lifting lacquer in places) or just run them as they are for a while.

I can see a scenario where I re-furb them and SWMBO kerbs them in 5 mins, hence considering other tyre solutions with better rim protection.

If anyone has any thoughts on alternatives that would be appreciated. The Pirellis have approx 7mm tread so it would be a shame not to use them, but if there’s nothing that does a better job then I’ll stick with them.

Rim protection may not be great not only because of the tyre model but also because of an incorrect tyre size for the rim size.
