MY2010 headlight replacement lens

Are there any replacement lenses available for the MY2010 ? Managed to crunch my front wing and it’s cracked the headlight lens.

I replaced my old 4.2 which was easy, but can’t see anything for the facelift.

Not original and not tried by them, but there are these if you're stuck:

Found one - good old Powerful.

Anyone done this to theirs ? I’m assuming it’s the old oven trick.

It’s definitely NOT the oven trick ! Ignore any vids etc which tell you to put MY2010 - 2013 headlights in the oven. The later facelift (andL322) lights use something similar to windscreen rubber, which doesn’t melt or soften when heated.

I eventually got my lens out by dremelling around the edge - approx 2cm from where the lens meets the case and then using a combination of a screwdriver to lever under the plastic lens, a long bladed scalpel to slice the mastic/glue whilst it was being levered and putting the tail of the lens in a vice and applying a lot of force to try and ease it out.

2hrs later, after a lot of swearing, sweat and some blood I succeeded.

The remaining mastic still needs cleaning out, but that’s another job for tomorrow. Again, scalpel and screwdriver worked on the bit I tried, albeit very slow.

So - it’s do-able, but not at all easy and you do need to strip all the bulbs etc out, as well as the lens and bulb surround that screws to the clear lens.

All sorted. The sealant is called Betaseal and doesn’t soften. I’ve used a combination of screwdrivers, scalpel and Dremmel to clean out the channel after removing the old lens.

To insert the new lens I used butyl sealant which was inserted into the channel and then warmed at 75c in the oven for ten minutes, before putting the lens in.

Result is a new looking light for £68. A bit cheaper than the £1k LR wanted.
