What’s this thingy ?

Found it in the back of my MY2010 3.6 TDV8

Can’t see where it could fit, but thought I’d ask before I chuck it.

Plastic or metal? if plastic just looks like something used on packaging corner protection.

Does look like a corner protector, but has a build date and a very long non-LR part number.
