MY10 3.6 TDV8

Hi all - looking at buying a MY10 3.6 L320. It’s had both turbos replaced within the last 4 years, front and rear ACE stabilisers, discs and pads all round, torque converter, propshaft, gearbox flush and looks generally pretty nice.

Only main issue is the service book is missing. Would LR keep an electronic history on an MY0 car for when it’s been in to them ?

Thanks

Jonny

Not for the whole 14 years. Maybe some entries if it's been serviced by them (or an indie with permission to up date the online system) over the last few years.

If the owner has a big pile of receipts from a decent indie showing the work done (presumably how you know that the various things listed have been done), then I wouldn't be too worried about the service book itself. Might be a useful item to barter the price down, but I'd guess it's already fairly inexpensive at that age. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

It does appear to have been very well looked after. The current owner has spent in excess of £5k in the last 18 months since owning it and it looks like any time anything needed doing it was done by specialists using genuine LR parts.

Having owned a couple of 4.2s I'm familiar with most things that could go wrong suspension/ACE wise etc and also read up extensively on the potential for turbos to go, so having had them sorted 20,000 miles ago, funnily enough by an Indy 15 miles from me, I'm pretty comfortable.

As it's my first diesel RRS is keeping the turbos sweet just a case of warming the engine before giving it some right foot ? Any other tips on how to best look after them would be appreciated.

Picked it up yesterday and had a very pleasant 240 mile trip home, so it gave me ample time to get used to all the knobs, buttons and settings. Really pleased with the facelift version and super impressed with the 3.6 V8. The adaptive cruise was a bit of a pain - can that be switched off ? It worked seamlessly, but I wasn’t keen on the way it booted back up to the set cruise speed after backing off for slow traffic.

Got around 34mpg according to the trip computer at motorway speeds, which I was happy with. Used just under half a tank of diesel.

Even her indoors thought it was very nice and it’s Stornoway Grey, which is my favourite RR colour.

Popped the diagnostic reader on it this morning and cleared a few intermittent codes that had been stored. The only one that was permanent was low air con pressure. Does the engine need to be running for that to get up to pressure ?

Only other slight issue is a slight suspension knock, so will no doubt need a drop link or two soon.

Happy days so far !

Adaptive cruise can be changed in the CCF, I believe.

The TDV8 is a great engine and really suits the L320. It's a good idea to lets the engine idle for a minute before switching off if you're looking to prolong the turbos' lifespan. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
